GET THE PICTURE?
When it comes to pet food, you get what you pay
for and more, than you may be aware of. Rule of
thumb, store brands are generally of lowest quality. No independent agency regulates nutrition claims on pet packages, any independent
studies are usually paid for by the manufacturer.
Organic pet foods are worthy of a lot of consideration, in this day of questionable practices
in the pet food industry. Their standards are
more stringent, as to what is allowed in your pets food. Many pet owners are opting for home
cooking to supplement for nutritional deficiencies
in their pets diets. Dogs love carrots, broccoli and
many other vegetables, cooked and raw... and they
are more easily digestible than rawhide bones
(...which have caused distress in many dogs.)
Another venue to consider is independent
supplementation. Your pet can benefit from additional supplementation of vitamins, minerals, herbs and enzymes.
Many books are being written about the benefits of cooking and supplements for our pets, some of
them are listed in this magazine as a courtesy to
our readers.
